Taking a Stand for Ethics

On-Demand

Paula Pedene was one of the first whistleblowers at the Phoenix VA. In 2010 she and Dr. Sam Foote exposed funds mismanagement and a hostile work environment.  When new leadership arrived, unethical practices continued and she again collaborated with Dr. Sam Foote in exposing a lack of health care access for veterans, which led to the exposure of the nationwide secret wait list scandal. In this webinar we can hear Paula’s personal journey as she discusses the importance in taking a stand for ethics and how to make a commitment to personal and professional growth that leads to ethical achievement. #EthicsMatter

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the PRSA values of respect for the individual: courage, honesty, expertise, independence, loyalty and fairness can lead us in enhancing our profession.
  • Understand the semantics of disclosing information to outside sources to raise the truth of unethical behavior.
  • Determine what happened within the Department of Veterans Affairs, how the system ignored disclosures and, in the end, how it cost them dearly.
