Karen Mateo, Chief Communications Officer

Karen Mateo is the Chief Communications Officer for PRSA, a position she was hired to in 2019.

In her role, Mateo is responsible for developing and implementing PRSA’s overall strategic communications goals.

Mateo is an accomplished communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in media relations, crisis management, brand building and public affairs. She joined PRSA following a stint at North 6th Agency, an award-winning media relations and social media agency, where she was a senior vice president.

Prior to N6A, Mateo was the senior vice president of communications for CBS Radio, where she was responsible for all internal and external communications functions for the division’s 120+ radio stations and portfolio of digital media properties. She was honored as one of Radio Ink magazine’s Most Influential Women in Radio six years in a row. She also served as the director of communications for CBS New York, and as a senior press representative for CBS Sports.

Mateo earned a bachelor's degree in athletic administration from St. John's University.
