PRSA recently announced the closing General Session at ICON 2023 — “AI in Communications: Today’s Tools, Future Projections, and the Ethical Frontier,” taking place on Oct. 17.

This immersive keynote salon session delves into the current state-of-the-art tools at the disposal of PR professionals, offering a glimpse into what the future might hold.

Join these communicators as they explore:

  • AI in Today’s PR Landscape: A walk-through of the cutting-edge tools currently being leveraged by industry front-runners. 
  • Navigating the Ethical Maze: As AI solutions become more integral, how can we ensure that AI is used responsibly and ethically in the realm of public communication?
  • Legal Insights on AI in PR: Gain insights into the evolving legal landscape surrounding AI and its implications for PR.

PRSA CEO Linda Thomas Brooks is moderating the session. The panelists are:

  • Carmen San Segundo Gámez, global marketing & communications director, ESG and corporate social responsibility, IBM
  • Aaron Kwittken, founder and CEO, PRophet, CEO, Stagwell Marketing Cloud, Comms Tech Unit
  • Cayce Myers, APR, Ph.D, professor of public relations and director of graduate studies, School of Communication, Virginia Tech 
  • Michelle Olson, APR, managing partner, Lambert.

The previously announced General Sessions feature two acclaimed writers and journalists, Michele Norris and David Epstein.

Norris is an award-winning journalist and one of the most recognized voices in radio who engages audiences in candid discussions about race, culture and communication in America.

Epstein is the author of “Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World” and “The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance.”

PRSA Offering Executive Leadership Certificate Program

PRSA is presenting an Executive Leadership Certificate Program that will cover the key components needed to become a highly effective communications executive.

Designed as a live, online program of five modules, this program will launch on Nov. 1 and run through Dec. 6 on Wednesdays from 3–4:30 p.m. ET. (No module scheduled on Nov. 22.)

Participants will learn how to lead with authenticity, emotional intelligence, inclusivity and strong ethics. They will also learn about budgeting, forecasting, resource management and how to effectively engage with financial experts — skills that are often elusive to communicators. 

Developed and led by M.J. Clark, M.A., APR, Fellow PRSA, a recognized expert and author in leadership development, the program will feature co-presenters and guest speakers who will provide in-depth, real-world examples of executive leadership best practices.
