Trademarks, Copyrights and Publicity Rights: An Explanation of Intellectual Property and the Digital Space

On-Demand

Intellectual property law can appear mystifying to the very people it is intended to protect: you.  The ability to identify intellectual property issues and navigate the balance between freedom of speech and those rights can be daunting and intimidating – particularly in the digital space.  The goal of this webinar is to provide participants with an understanding of the basics Trademark, Copyright and Right of Publicity law (sometimes known as misappropriation of name and likeness).

Additionally, this webinar shall provide participants with an understanding of when the unauthorized use of these rights are protected by freedom of speech and when unauthorized use constitutes infringement.  In particular, this webinar will focus on how Trademark, Copyright and Right of Publicity law play out in the digital space.

This webinar will be led by Rom Bar-Nissim of The Law Offices of Lincoln Bandlow.  Rom is a media law attorney with over seven years of experience litigating intellectual property issues and counseling various content creators on various intellectual property and speech related issues.  This will be Rom’s third time presenting to the Public Relations Society of America, having conducted the webinar Navigating Copyright in the Digital Space and an in-person seminar on Ethics and Law in Public Relations at the 2019 PRSA Annual Meeting in San Diego.
