Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been accompanied by an unprecedented wave of mis- and disinformation. The goal of such disinformation is often not to persuade but to sow doubt, confusion, and animosity. For example, unfounded conspiracy theories about “biological laboratories” in Ukraine are intended to confuse audiences about the reasons behind the invasion. In this talk, Dr. Jon Roozenbeek (University of Cambridge) discusses the tactics and techniques that underlie disinformation and how simple interventions, such as games and videos, can reduce misinformation susceptibility.
