Nashville, Tennessee, Oct. 15-17

NEW YORK, May 17, 2023PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community, announced today that New York Times bestselling author and science writer David Epstein will be a keynote speaker at ICON 2023, being held Oct. 15-17 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Epstein is the author of “Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World,” and of “The Sports Gene: Inside the Science of Extraordinary Athletic Performance.”

“What traits, habits, and practices help ensure success in any profession? David Epstein tackles this question with great storytelling, extensive research and brilliant writing,” said Michelle Egan, APR, Fellow PRSA, 2023 PRSA Chair.“ As professional communicators, we help our clients accomplish their goals and stay ahead of the competition and David’s insights are designed to do just that. I’m delighted we will get the chance to him hear him share his expertise with all of us as we gather in Nashville this October.”

Epstein has made it his mission to uncover the keys to achieving high performance in any profession or fast-changing environment — knowledge that has become essential to educating, developing and retaining the workforce of the future. His New York Times best-seller, “The Sports Gene,” investigated the balance of nature and nurture in developing a skill. “Range” examines the world’s top performers, from professional athletes to artists, scientists, entrepreneurs and Nobel laureates.

One of only five titles to make Bill Gates' "Holiday Books 2020" list, “Range” was also named one of Wharton professor Adam Grant's "New Leadership Books to Read in 2019,” was a finalist for the 2019 Financial Times/McKinsey business book of the year, and was selected as one of Amazon’s best business books of 2019, among other accolades.

ICON 2023 will provide a special blend of incomparable networking and professional development opportunities for public relations professionals. Attendees will have the opportunity to enhance their perspectives and skill sets with communicators representing well-known brands, agencies and nonprofits, renew old friendships and make new contacts, and meet representatives from leading industry service providers.
