PRSA and PRMuseum Form Strategic Partnership to Advance PR Profession

Jun. 4, 2024

PRMuseum to Relocate to PRSA Headquarters on Wall Street

NEW YORK, June 4, 2024 – PRSA and The Museum of Public Relations today announced they have reached a formal agreement to jointly create and execute new educational programs and events, and deliver expanded research that will further their common mission of strengthening and advancing the practice of public relations.

A centerpiece of the new initiative will be the PRMuseum, which is relocating to PRSA’s New York City headquarters at 120 Wall Street in New York City. The Museum is the world’s only museum dedicated to the PR profession.

The two organizations plan to co-create education programming to advance practitioners’ and students’ knowledge, skills, and understanding of best practices, as well as the historical context within which the field developed. Members of PRSSA will have access to PRMuseum on-site curated year-long programs.

The PRMuseum will house all its operations and extensive archives at PRSA. With more than 5,000 artifacts, the PRMuseum is the only institution in the world dedicated to preserving historical material documenting public relations’ development as a social institution. Its archives include original documents from  Edward Bernays and Inez Kaiser Ofield Dukes and Harold Burson.

“This is an exciting time for the public relations profession,” said Shelley Spector, co-founder and chief executive officer of the PRMuseum. “The practice of PR has never been more valued, and our clients have never been more demanding. This partnership with PRSA is a strong vote of confidence by the nation’s leading association of practitioners. But more importantly, it will expand our reach and our ability to reaffirm public relations’ role as a responsible tool of commerce and a powerful force for social progress.”

“With this collaborate venture, we’re not just bringing together two storied institutions, we’re building on our expertise and breadth of history to propel the profession forward,” said Linda Thomas Brooks, CEO, PRSA. “The development of new and innovative programs will greatly benefit our shared customers and provide unique opportunities for our partners.”

Both nonprofits will remain independent and continue to create and manage their respective programming.
