PRSSA Expands Global Reach in the United States and Mexico

William Paterson University and Universidad de las Américas Puebla Join Growing Roster of PRSSA Chapters 

 

NEW YORK, December 3, 2024 - PRSSA, the foremost organization for students interested in the public relations and communications fields, announced today it has added Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) – located in Cholula, Mexico – and William Paterson University (WP) to its network of Chapters worldwide. PRSSA has a presence at universities and colleges across the United States and in Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Puerto Rico. This is the first PRSSA Chapter established in Mexico.  

“This marks a significant expansion for PRSA, and we look forward to welcoming all of the new international PRSSA students,” said Joseph Abreu, APR, CPRC, 2024 PRSA Chair. “Membership in PRSSA has shown to be a transformative experience for up-and-coming communications professionals. Exposure to PRSA’s valuable resources and network of professional mentors allows students to connect, learn and grow.”  

Support for the Chapter at UDLAP will be provided by PRSA San Diego/Imperial Counties. PRSA member Dr. Judith Cruz-Sandoval will serve as faculty adviser and Dr. Mauricio Graciano will serve as professional adviser.  

When discussing the significance of establishing a PRSSA Chapter at UDLAP, Cruz-Sandoval shared, “This achievement underscores UDLAP's commitment to providing our students with a world-class education and preparing them for success in the dynamic field of communication and public relations. We are excited to embark on this new chapter with PRSA and PRSSA and look forward to the countless opportunities it will bring to our students and the broader communication community.” 

With over 13 courses allied to the public relations sequence, students can pursue degrees in communication and media production and communication and public relations. 

WP marks the 11th PRSSA Chapter established in New Jersey. They will be supported by PRSA New Jersey. Professor Lorra Brown, MA and Jungyun Won will serve as faculty advisers and Logan J. Williams and Christina Forrest will serve as professional advisers. Students at WP have the opportunity to take multiple courses allied to the public relations sequence including a blend of foundational and specialized subjects crucial for a comprehensive understanding of PR.

This affiliation grants our faculty and diverse student population access to PRSA’s extensive professional development and educational resources,” said Brown. “With this milestone, students in our BA in public relations and MA in integrated marketing communication programs will gain opportunities to build industry connections, expand their networks, and enhance their professional outcomes. This partnership elevates our academic offerings and further empowers our students to achieve even greater career success."
