Experienced Association Executive Brings Visionary Leadership, Strategic Mindset and Collaborative Style to PRSA

NEW YORK, February 27, 2025 - Matthew Marcial, CAE, CMP is named Chief Executive Officer of PRSA, the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community. He begins Monday, March 3, 2025.

As CEO, Marcial is responsible for all program, financial and operational aspects of the organization. Reporting to and collaborating closely with PRSA’s Board of Directors, he will guide the development and implementation of PRSA’s Strategic Plan as well as the organization’s programs and advocacy positions to support its members.

“When we began the CEO search in mid-November, we made clear that PRSA needs a visionary, transformational and collaborative leader who will propel our Society into the future,” said Ray Day, APR, 2025 PRSA Chair, Stagwell vice chair and Allison Worldwide executive chair. “We found such a talented and experienced leader in Matt Marcial, and we can’t wait to introduce him to our members and see how he takes PRSA flying higher.”

Marcial brings a wealth of expertise in driving growth, innovation and strategic development within associations and nonprofits. Most recently, he provided strategic consulting and helped deliver revenue and growth for nonprofit clients. He previously served as CEO of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services and served in executive roles with The Institute of Internal Auditors, Meeting Professionals International, NAFA Fleet Management Association and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Marcial is an Association Forum and USAE Forty Under 40 honoree. He also is an active member and volunteer of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and has spoken at several industry conferences across North America and globally.

“This is an exciting time for the communications profession, and I am honored to step into this role,” said Marcial. “As the landscape continues to evolve, PR professionals are uniquely positioned to shape conversations and drive meaningful impact. I look forward to collaborating alongside PRSA’s talented members, leadership and staff to advance the organization’s mission, foster innovation and equip our community with the tools to thrive in an ever-changing world.”

Marcial holds a master’s degree in business administration from Florida International University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Saint Leo University. He also possesses the Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designations.

He succeeds Philip Bonaventura, who has served as Interim CEO since January. Bonaventura will resume his full-time role as Chief Financial Officer, a position he has held since joining PRSA in 2007.
