Jeff Manning is a former investigative reporter. He retired in June from The Oregonian daily paper in Portland, Ore., after a 42-year career in journalism. During his time at the paper, he broke a number of major business stories and uncovered a series of financial scandals. In one instance, work by Manning and another reporter led to 12 business executives indicted for fraud. Manning earned a reputation as one of the top reporters in the Pacific Northwest. His career included reporting jobs at the Bend Bulletin, the Newport News-Times, and the Portland Business Journal. Manning took a 13-month break from reporting in 2012 to serve as the public information officer for Oregon’s attorney general.
