Considerations for Launching Your Consultancy

In 2007, I took a leap and decided to start my own business as an independent PR practitioner.
After working in government, agency and in-house PR settings, I was ready to use those experiences to focus my own consultancy on areas of public relations where I could make the most impact for clients. Sure, I could do the work, but what about the business side?
If you’re contemplating going solo yourself, then it’s important to first solidify your business plan. The document will serve as a road map for your company, stating its strengths and goals and how those goals will be accomplished. Separate from your marketing plan, the business plan also clearly states your company’s purpose, which will be challenged at some point.
