Controlling Your Collective Bargaining Narrative

The power dynamic between employee and employer has shifted with the Great Resignation, a tight labor market, new technologies and a pro-union Administration in Washington.
In September 2021, Gallup reported that Americans’ approval of labor unions has reached its highest point since 1965. Further, extensive media coverage related to the labor organizing campaigns at Amazon and Starbucks and last fall’s “Striketober” and “Strikesgiving” elevated the topics of unions and worker rights.
Communicators in organizations with union-represented workers need to have a well-developed plan and begin communicating with their stakeholders before contract negotiations.
