Discovering Fulfillment as a College Instructor
By Pam Fultz, M.S., APR
September 2022
When I announced to my professional network that I was going to be teaching a graduate course in my spare time, I was surprised by the responses I received.
Some of my friends asked if I had enough time in my already busy life. A few of my colleagues inquired if I was going to change careers. My family seemed elated. Overall, the reaction from everyone was supportive, but a bit skeptical. Undeterred, I moved forward with training and preparation to begin a new adventure.
The transition from PR practitioner to adjunct lecturer at the University of Florida may seem more like a huge leap than a small step, but I now realize my humble academic beginnings and 25-year plus professional journey prepared me for the fresh path upon which I was about to embark.
