Make Smart Investments in Your Employer Brand

As PR counselors, we often look for the bright, shiny win — a front-page story in a major national news outlet or innovative new creative.
And yet, another communications investment is critically important to many businesses — the investment being made to grow and protect a company’s brand as an employer.
The labor market is rough. Talent is hard to find. Compensation is up. Quiet quitting — and, heck, just plain quitting — is hitting businesses small and large with equal measure. While it may be easy to say “people just don’t want to work” or “it’s that [pick your] generation’s attitude,” employers should spend their time looking inward.
Are you placing the same amount of effort and funding as you spend producing and selling a “thing” as you are marketing your business as an employer? Are you investing in internal communications programs to build confidence across your team and strengthen your culture? Are you meeting people — whether they are current team members or those you wish to recruit — where they are effectively and with relevant, trustworthy messages?
