PRSA Introduces Affinity Group Program; Entries Open for Anvil Awards
February 2022
PRSA has introduced an exciting new Affinity Group program. This free member benefit provides opportunities for individuals to meet and discuss mutual interests, share common goals and build supportive networks and relationships.
The multiyear project aligns with our 2020-2022 D&I Strategic Plan and will launch with two groups, Black Voices and Hispanic-Latino.
Affinity Groups will serve as a key element of PRSA’s objective to attract, develop and retain diverse members, build awareness of and strengthen PRSA’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and facilitate personal member growth and advancement.
The groups are open to all current PRSA members and are not limited by race, gender, background, sexual identity, or any other factor. Allies are encouraged to join and participate in all groups.
We are very grateful to the volunteers who will be heading up our first two groups:
Black Voices:
• Sabrina Browne, VP, Corporate, BCW Global — Co-chair
• Thomas Bennett III, APR, VP, Business Development, OCHIN, Inc. — Co-chair
Hispanic-Latino:
• Audrey Ponzio, Founder & CEO, APC Collective — Co-chair
• Justine Houston-Brown, APR, Account Supervisor, PR & Influence, Ogilvy — Co-chair
Entries Open for PRSA’s Anvil Awards
PRSA is now accepting entries for the 2022 Anvil Awards.
This year’s program has been updated to streamline the entry process as well as reflect the evolving communications landscape.
You can submit Silver Anvil and Bronze Anvil entries on the same form, and PRSA will present all awards at the annual ceremony in three categories: Silver Anvil Strategic Campaign Awards, Silver Anvil Organizational Awards and Bronze Anvil Tactical Awards.
Look for complete category descriptions, entry deadlines and other information for the Silver and Bronze Anvil Awards here.
The in-person ceremony is scheduled for May 19 in New York City.
For the past 75 years, the Anvils have been considered the icon of the profession and the benchmark of high performance in public relations. Silver Anvil Awards celebrate the best strategic PR campaigns of the year, as well as outstanding organizational excellence. Bronze Anvil Awards recognize outstanding PR tactics that contribute to the success of overall programs or campaigns.
PRSA Presents Its 2021 Year in Review
In late December, PRSA published its 2021 Year in Review, offering a definitive look back on a year where the organization has much to be proud of, despite many of the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The review includes updates on all areas of PRSA, including diversity and inclusion, professional development and Chapters and Professional Interest Sections.
“I’m proud of the great strides we made in 2021 despite the ongoing difficulties of the pandemic and its devastating impact on our lives,” PRSA CEO Linda Thomas Brooks said in her introductory letter. “I’m proud to be part of a profession that is so critical to society right now. The challenges that we are addressing as a profession are challenges that matter to the world. I love doing something so meaningful and vital, and I can’t wait to continue working with you in 2022.”
