PRSA has selected Tara Carraro and Sankalp (San) Sharma as senior counsel to the 2025 Board of Directors.

The Board approved the selections based on the recommendation of 2025 Chair Ray Day, APR, Stagwell vice chair, and Allison Worldwide executive chair.

“PRSA is dedicated to making communications professionals smarter, better prepared and more connected through all stages of their careers,” Day said. “Tara and San joining the board helps us turbocharge this mission — with Tara representing what’s needed for seasoned professionals and San grounding us in what’s needed to attract new professionals to our Society.”

Carraro has held multiple senior-level positions throughout her career. She joined U.S. Steel in March 2022 and is responsible for reputation management and communications strategies. She also oversees community relations and nongovernmental stakeholder engagement.

She recently served as executive vice president and chief corporate affairs officer for Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA). Before joining NWNA, Carraro was senior vice president, communications, for WWE, an integrated media organization. She also held corporate affairs and communications roles at Heineken USA, the Altria family of companies, and Pepsi-Cola International.

At EMC Communications, Sharma works with clients, focusing on advocacy and government relations. He is a recent graduate of California State University, Sacramento, where he majored in public relations, earning cum laude honors. During his time in college, Sharma served as PRSSA president.

Senior Counsel is a nonvoting position on PRSA’s 19-member Board, serving for a one-year term.

Mark your Calendars for Member Mondays

Last month, PRSA and its 2025 chair, Ray Day, APR, launched a new outreach initiative called Member Mondays. These open forum conversations facilitate more direct outreach and information sharing.

The second Monday of every month is for both PRSA members and non-members. It focuses on a topic of interest to the profession and features advice and data from industry leaders. On Jan. 13, longtime corporate communications and agency leader Marian Salzman shared insights from her 2025 macro trends report. (Watch a replay of the Jan 13 and Feb. 10 sessions here.)

The fourth Monday of every month is for PRSA leaders (Chapters, Districts and Sections), focusing on best-practice sharing and progress on PRSA’s Strategic Plan.

PRSSA Launching New Chapter at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

PRSSA is establishing a new Chapter at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC).

The Chapter will launch with over 20 students interested in public relations and/or communications. PRSA’s San Antonio Chapter will provide support, while Teresa Henderson will serve as a professional adviser.

With the addition of the TAMU-CC Chapter, PRSSA added nine new Chapters in 2024. This adds to the tally of PRSSA Chapters across the United States, including Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico.

Celebrating Black History Month
