6 Things Leaders Can Do to Foster a Strong Remote Team

In 2024, remote work has never been easier or more widely accepted. Advances in technology have equipped PR professionals with the tools we need to work virtually — and do it well. On top of that, the global pandemic greatly accelerated this transition, pushing all of us, organizations and employees alike, to shift our mindset around virtual workspaces. We’ve evolved our understanding of what it means to be part of a team, and employers who have adopted remote work models have seen remarkable success.
According to a 2023 Pew Research study, about 35% of American workers with jobs that can be done remotely are working from home full-time. A survey by Upwork projects that 22% of the U.S. workforce will be remote by 2025. As we look to the future, it’s clear that remote work — whether full-time or hybrid — is here to stay.
As PR leaders, this shift has changed the way we hire, manage and support our people. Many of us no longer have our teams down the hall or even in the same city or state. However, with the right mindset and tools, we can build strong, cohesive virtual teams.
