Newsmatics - PRSSA 2024 ICON Grants

PRSSA is proud to announce that Newsmatics will cover the registration of up to 50 students to attend the PRSSA 2024 International Conference. Scheduled for Oct. 13-17 in Anaheim, Calif., ICON is a great opportunity for students to learn and network with public relations professionals from around the world. 

Newsmatics Inc. is an independent privately held news tech company headquartered in Washington, D.C., focused on the development of news technology platforms. Its activities include media monitoring, press release distribution, custom media analysis, and advanced intelligence software applications.

#PRSSAIC 2024 Grant

Deadline: April 30, 2024

Award: Conference Registration

This grant pays the registration fees for up to ten members to attend the PRSSA International Conference. The recipients will demonstrate superior writing skills in both the press release and the original essay required in the submission.

Eligibility

You must be a current, paid PRSSA member (having paid dues in November 2023 or March 2024) planning to attend the PRSSA 2024 International Conference.

Note: Winners of the grant that have already registered for the Conference will receive a full refund.

Application

To apply, each applicant must submit the following materials:

  • The application form (Word or PDF), complete with signature from your PRSSA Faculty or Professional Adviser.
  • A letter of recommendation of no more than 250 words from your PRSSA Faculty or Professional Adviser.
  • A draft press release written by you of no more than 250 words announcing your selection as a PRSSA 2023 International Conference grant winner.
  • An original essay written by you of no more than 250 words that addresses the following topic: Pick one skill or trait that you consider essential for the next generation of new public relations professionals. Why is this skill or trait essential? What can new professionals do to strengthen this skill or trait?

Note: Do not pick more than one skill or trait. Your essay will be judged on your writing skills and defense of your ideas; not your selected skill or trait.

Make sure all materials are error free and thoroughly proofread. One application may be submitted per student, Chapters may not submit one application on behalf of multiple students. All application materials must sent as an attachment by email to ben.castleman@prsa.org by April 30, 2024. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

PRSA Foundation 2024 ICON Travel Grant

Deadline: Friday, May 10, 2024

Award: Conference Registration, Travel and Accommodations

The PRSA Foundation has allotted funds to encourage and support multicultural students majoring in, and planning to pursue, careers in public relations and related fields. This grant will support ten college students for up to $2,500 each to attend the PRSSA International Conference in Anaheim, California, Oct. 13–17, 2024.

The grant will be used to offset the following expenses associated with International Conference attendance:

  • Conference registration
  • Travel
  • Accommodations
  • Meals not already provided through Conference registration (receipt must be provided)

Eligibility

Applicant must be a PRSSA member and must be a junior or senior in the Fall of 2024.

T-Mobile - PRSSA 2024 ICON Grants

Deadline: April 30, 2024

Award: Conference Registration

This grant pays the registration fees for up to 25 members to attend the PRSSA International Conference.

Eligibility

Applicants must be current, paid PRSSA members (having paid dues in November 2023 or March 2024) planning to attend the PRSSA 2024 International Conference. Applicants must also be at the junior or senior undergraduate level or be a Graduate student in the Fall of 2024.

Application

To apply, each applicant must complete the google form application found here by April 30,2024. The application consists of three long form written responses on each of the following topics:

  • What you hope to gain by attending the PRSSA 2024 International Conference.
  • The PRSSA benefits you have taken advantage of since becoming a member and how they have made you a better pre-professional.
  • If you receive the grant how do you plan to share the information you learn during this event with your Chapter?

Make sure all materials are error free and thoroughly proofread. One application may be submitted per student, Chapters may not submit one application on behalf of multiple students. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

PRSA ICON 2024 Associate Member Grant

Deadline: April 30, 2024

Award: Free Conference Registration

This grant pays the registration fees for up to eight former PRSSA members to attend the PRSA International Conference. The recipients will demonstrate superior writing skills in both the press release and the original essay required in the submission.

Eligibility

You must be a former PRSSA member who is currently a PRSA Associate Member and plan to attend the PRSA 2024 International Conference.

Note: Winners of the grant that have already registered for the Conference will receive a full refund.

Application

To apply, each applicant must submit the following materials:

The application form (Word or PDF), complete with signature from your PRSSA Faculty or Professional Adviser.

A letter of recommendation of no more than 250 words from your PRSSA Faculty or Professional Adviser.

A letter of recommendation of no more than 250 words from a current internship or job supervisor.

A draft press release written by you of no more than 250 words announcing your selection as a PRSA 2023 International Conference grant winner.

An original essay written by you of no more than 250 words that addresses the following topic.

Why do you want to attend the PRSA 2024 International Conference? What do you hope to learn? How do you plan on sharing what you learned with fellow PRSA members?

All materials (except for the signatures) must be typed. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. One grant application must be submitted per member. All application materials must be sent as an attachment by email to ben.castleman@prsa.org by April 30, 2024.

Leadership Assembly Travel Grant

Deadline: Friday, January 10, 2025

Award: Travel to and from Assembly

This grant was created to encourage and support multicultural students majoring in public relations and related fields who plan to pursue a career in public relations. The grant will support multicultural students attending the PRSSA Leadership Assembly, March 6—8, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The grant will be used to cover Travel — Airfare to and from Leadership Assembly, up to $500.

Eligibility

Applicants must be current members of a PRSSA Chapter that is in good standing. Applicants must also already be registered for the PRSSA Leadership Assembly.
