Meet Uyen Ngo, a junior student at Purdue University, double majoring in Public Relations and Sales Management, who has been elected the Vice President of Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (BEDI) for the academic year 2024-2025. Driven by her passion for bringing people together, Uyen’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is motivated by her own experience as an international student from Vietnam.

Uyen has been involved with PRSSA as a Purdue Chapter member since 2021. She later served as a DEI member of the PRoud Council in 2023-2024, where she actively worked to create an environment where PRSSA members of all backgrounds feel welcome. As the Vice President of BEDI, Uyen loves connecting with fellow members and learning about their diverse cultures. She hopes to continue uniting PRSSA Chapters nationwide and globally in recognition of the diverse range of identities and perspectives that each individual contributes.

Beyond her role in PRSSA, Uyen is also an account executive for two student-run PR firms, where she works with diverse teams to create a positive impact in the local community in Indiana. Uyen’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and addressing social issues is further exemplified by her founding a non-profit organization in 2021. This organization aims to improve healthcare and education access for multiple children and patients in Vietnam, her home country. Continually seeking to expand her understanding of diversity, Uyen has participated in a PR campaign competition hosted by the Abdelkader Project, a nonprofit Muslim organization, and has been a part of the Diversity Fellowship by FINN Partners, a global firm that strives for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Outside of work and study, Uyen enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle by working out at the gym, connecting with friends, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops in the area.
